Harvest Turnip Puff #Recipe

HARVEST TURNIP PUFF

With Thanksgiving right around the corner and all the harvest veggies in abundance, I felt this recipe would be a great share.  Some people do not enjoy turnips, but the Harvest Turnip Puff is a delicious way to prepare them and the whole family will enjoy!

The Harvest Turnip Puff is also freezer friendly.  Make it ahead and throw in the freezer, and the day of, pop it into the oven and reheat!  It’s such a simple and hearty recipe idea.

What you will need:

1 Turnip (cooked and mashed)

1 Cup of bread crumbs

3 Tablespoons of butter

1 Tablespoon of brown sugar

2 Beaten eggs

Salt and pepper

Casserole dish, buttered.

Preheat oven to 350

Boil your turnip as you normally would.  When the turnip is tender, mash it.  Add in your butter, brown sugar, eggs and bread crumbs.  Add a pinch of salt and pepper.  Fold until the turnip mixture is well combined with other ingredients.  Turn the turnip puff into a buttered casserole dish.  Bake in a preheated oven for approximately 40 minutes.

The turnip puff can now be frozen until you need it.  If you don’t like turnips, I can almost bet you will like a turnip puff.  It has become a favorite with my family.  Enjoy!

Fall is just around the corner.  The kids are heading back to school.  Some have started already.  As the summer days are winding down, we tend to think more along the lines of hearty comfort food, rather than barbeque meals we’ve been used to.   As a kid, I didn’t really like beef stew because it was […]
